LYDIA
Lydia was a businesswoman who lived in what is now Turkey in the first century, C.E. She made her living selling purple cloth and/or purple dye and was extremely successful and highly respected in her community. The purple cloth of her trade was used by royalty, priests, and high government officials. She is known to this day as, "the Woman of Purple".
Lydia was a woman who made a powerful mark on history. Independent and financially successful, she also had a strong spiritual life and was a vital part of her community. Lydia's Daughters Network has adopted Lydia as our foremother and role model.
LDN provides a launching pad to catapult young ladies into fulfilling their purpose so that they too can be strong, independent Ladies making a difference in their world. Each one of them, from her own background and culture, is weaving the fabric of her unique life. Lydia's Daughters provides a network of teachers, guides, role models, and allies to support these young ladies and help them realize their full potential, so that there may be more Lydias in this world.
